We will receive a giant design of his butterfly to display in school. Archer will receive a special prize from Barrett Homes, and we have been awarded £200 from them to purchase books for the school as a thank you for all the children's amazing designs.
Well done and thank you if you entered the competition :-)
St Joseph's 50th Anniversary
Thank you again to everyone that joined us to celebrate.
Sponsored Splash & Dash
As part of our fundraising efforts for the school's 50th anniversary celebration, we held a sponsored Splash & Dash (AKA an epic water fight!) Children were invited to take part by bringing in water guns and buckets, and it was a non stop 1 hour splash and dash on the school field. Children had so much fun with some commenting that it was 'the best day ever!'
For children who did not wish to take part in the splash & dash, a dry area was allocated where they could dance along to music. Well done to all the children of St Joseph's for their amazing fundraising efforts!
St Francis Catholic Cup
Children from Year 6 were selected to take part in the St Francis Catholic Cup. They competed in 5 matches to begin with, they won 3 of these and lost 2. They then went through to play one more match which was a draw. The children finished the competition in 3rd place out of 12 schools which is a fantastic achievement. We are so proud of them all, and they worked their socks off in each match. Well done to each and every one of you!

As a continued good behaviour incentive, children throughout school were awarded Perfect Purple time for receiving no warnings or detentions during Summer (1) Term. At the end of Summer term 1, children that had earnt their perfect purple time were able to choose from a range of activities. Children could choose from: coding, football, trim trail and tennis, dance and cheer, origami and crafts, science experiments, litter picking on the school field, Lego fun and games and a film. Our Reception and Nursery children enjoyed their perfect purple time as a class in their classroom. Well done to all the children that received the full 45 minute reward!
Year 6 Residential to Gulliver's Kingdom
This Year, Year 6 went to Gulliver's Kingdom for their residential. They enjoyed a range of activities including, archery, shelter building, animal encounters, camp songs, and they were able to enjoy the rides in the park too. They all had a wonderful time and their behaviour was exceptional. Well done Year 6!
St Francis CMAT Pentecost Celebrations at St Bernard's High School
St Francis CMAT held Pentecost celebrations at St Bernard's High School Rotherham on Friday 17th May. Our Year 4 and Year 5 class Chaplains were invited to go, along with 4 other children from Year 4 and Year 5.
The day began with a Design Technology workshop where the children made a flying dove. Then the children had an African dance workshop, followed by an African drumming workshop and then hymn practise ready for Mass in the afternoon.
The day ended with a Mass which was lead by Father John. All the workshops of the day were celebrated in Mass, and all children were included in the Mass by having a job to do. Some children were selected to read, carry items to the alter, drum, and all children enjoyed joining in with dancing and singing. It was a huge celebration which the children thoroughly enjoyed!

Pure Recycling Project in Rossington
Doncaster Council held a recycling workshop for KS2 children to promote pure recycling in Rossington.
The children were recycling champions as they correctly identified what can be recycled in our blue bins and green boxes. Their mission is to help parents and carers to correctly recycle items at home.
We received the following message from Doncaster Council's Waste and Recycling Team:
"The Waste & Recycling Engagement Team would like to say a big Thank You for allowing us into school to promote the Pure Recycling Project in the Rossington Area. It was a pleasure working with you all and we really appreciate you allowing us the time to promote this project."
Autumn 2023
Christmas Pantomime
The whole school thoroughly enjoyed this year's pantomime, Snow White.
There were lots of laughter, cheers, dancing, singing and booing!
Thank you to Friend's of St Joseph's for paying for this early Christmas treat.
Operation Christmas Child
Pastor Eric Simpson (church minister in Rossington) came to St Joseph's to support the charity Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child's focus is children who have been affected by poverty and other forms of devastation. Shoe boxes are filled with small items which are greatly needed by children, and are then sent to very poor and war torn countries in the world. Quite probably a shoe-box will be the only thing they will receive for Christmas. The boxes are filed with the fun (small toys) and the practical (paper, felt tips, soap).
Children were able to choose the items, which had been bought by Pastor Eric, with a suggested contribution of £1. The children at St Joseph's physically picked up an item and put it into a shoe box that will literally be opened by a child in the designated country.
Thank you to all who donated and contributed to Operation Christmas Child.
Year 6 visit to St Michael’s Church Cenotaph for Remembrance Day
Year 6, along with other members of the local community, participated in a service of remembrance for all lives lost to conflict and war. They listened to prayers, readings and poetry and took part in a 2 minute silence as The Last Post was played.
