Yorkshire Water Workshop

Yorkshire Water visited St Joseph's to discuss water usage and the importance of reducing water waste. They delivered an informative assembly to KS2 children, and each class took part in an engaging workshop and a different water experiment. 

Each workshop also focused on water safety, including the dangers of open water and the effects of cold water shock. The children learned why it is so important never to jump into reservoirs, rivers or lakes.

Year 6

Year 6 carried out an experiment to investigate what happens to different items when they are flushed down the toilet. They tested toilet paper, a cotton bud, a baby wipe and a packet tissue. The results showed that only the toilet paper disintegrated, highlighting why it is the only item designed to be flushed away safely. The workshop also focused on water safety, including the dangers of open water and the effects of cold water shock. The children learned why it is so important never to jump into reservoirs, rivers or lakes.

Year 3

Year 3 learnt more about the water cycle and the processes that water has to go through before it reaches our homes.

Year 5

Year 5 carried out two experiments. They investigated sand and gravel drainage systems to demonstrate how water aid cleans the water. They also looked into how bacteria is pushed up to the surface of water due to the bubbles pushing them up. 🫧 🦠 💧
