Advent 2025
Take a look at how we have been celebrating Advent in our school....
Father John joined us for our Advent Mass, which was lead by children in Year 6. The whole school gathered in thoughtful preparation for the coming of Christmas 🎄 they listened to readings, sang beautiful Advent hymns and as always we were entertained by Father John and one of his many stories.
Year 2 have spent the morning with Pastor Simpson and Ms Acton exploring the Christmas story through activities and role play. They looked at each part of the story with a box filled with different activities and accessories, beginning with Mary’s story, then onto Joseph, The Shepherd’s, The Wise Men and finally Jesus’ birth. They were all given a bag to take home their Advent activities and a book all about the Christmas story 🎄
Some of our school choir members from Years 5 and 6 were invited to take part in a Christmas carol concert at St Peter-in-Chains Church. Children from the schools within the St Francis trust came together for an Advent liturgy. Some children lead readings from the gospel, lead prayers, some formed a nativity scene at the alter, and the whole church sang beautifully, which was lead by our Music Teacher, Mr Edge.
We ended our Advent celebrations in school with our Christingle Service. We gathered in the hall to listen to readings, sang some lovely Christmas hymns and lit up the hall with all of your Christingles. Our school choir lead us with 2 new Christmas hymns, and they sounded beautiful. Thank you so much to everyone who could join us and to everyone that made a Christingle with their child/children 🎄 🕯️
Christmas Carol Concert
Year 3, 5 and 6 entertained their families and carers by singing some wonderful Christmas carols, which was lead by our music teacher for the Diocese, Mr Edge.
KS1 Nativities
KS2 Liturgies
Year 3 began our Advent journey by telling the story of how Mary was told by Angel Gabriel that she would have God’s child, Jesus. They showed us some of the names we call Jesus such as Messiah, Teacher and Emmanuel, and they sang beautifully to the whole school. Well done Year 3 🎄
Year 4 focused on Mary’s story in their Advent Liturgy, and how she felt when she was told that she was going to give birth to God’s son, Jesus. Year 4 honoured Mother Mary beautifully by placing Lily’s, that they had made, by her shrine.
In their Advent Liturgy, Year 5 explained the role of The Shepherds in the Christmas Story. They all read beautifully and their singing was amazing. Well done Year 5 🎄
Year 6 brought our Advent Liturgies to a close, by telling us about the birth of Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. They stunned the whole school into silence with their beautiful singing, wonderful readings and their acting. Well done Year 6 🎄
