Meet our Gift Team for the academic year 2025/2026

GIFT Team Leading Gospel Assembly

This morning, the GIFT team led our Liturgy of the Word in a beautiful and thoughtful manner. During our meeting last week, the children in the GIFT team all made a dove, to represent the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus when he rises from the water, and these props really helped to bring the story of Jesus being baptised to life for the rest of the school. They led the introduction and prayers with respect and poise, acted with confidence and held everyone's attention. I think they might have to become a regular fixture in my weekly assemblies! Well done, GIFT team!

Christmas Stocking Competition
During the festive season of Advent, our wonderful GIFT team launched their own Christmas Stocking Competition. Their aim was to raise £50 to support CAFOD and buy a Fantastic Family Stocking. All children needed to do, was decorate a stocking and bring it back into school with a donation of £1 to enter the competition. They had lots of entries. and they picked three winners during the last week of term, who all won a Lego set. Well done GIFT team and our winners!

As we are in the month of Mary, our GIFT team gathered together to make giant rosary beads for a new school display dedicated to Our Lady. Well done GIFT team.

Walkable Rosaries

The GIFT team were busy last week creating Walkable Rosaries for children to use at break and lunch times. As May is the month of Mary, we decided we wanted something a little bit different and fun to help us to remember to pray to Mary. Thanks GIFT team!

Our Jubilee Hopes

The GIFT team were tasked with an important job today - go out into the school community and ask children from different classes to decorate a peg, thinking carefully about their hopes for the coming months as we start our Jubilee journey. The end product looks amazing!

The St. Joseph's Holy Door

Members of the GIFT team met this week to help create our St. Joseph's Holy Door. Pope Francis opened the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basilica to officially launch the Jubilee year, so we decided to create our own holy door in school to signify the pathway to new beginnings which we are embarking on.

Epiphany Chalk Blessing

The GIFT team have been busy this lunchtime preparing and leading an Epiphany Chalk Blessing to mark the Feast of the Epiphany, Monday 6th January.
The children said prayers of blessing for the school and Epiphany markers were made around the doorway to symbolise God’s blessing on the building and all who enter it. Thank you, GIFT team!

Christmas Card Competition

During Advent, the GIFT team set up a competition in school to raise money for CAFOD. Children were asked to bring in a £1 donation to enter a Christmas Card Competition. We had some fantastic entries and the GIFT team found it hard to select their winners. They raised a total of £32 and bought CAFOD gifts including: Weatherproof Crops, Trees for Life, Emergency Water and a Vegetable Gardens. All sustainable gifts that make a difference to communities fighting poverty. Well done, GIFT team!

GIFT Team Remembrance Day display

The GIFT Team worked together to paint and decorate two soldiers in honour of Remembrance Day. The soldiers are standing proudly at our front gates - great job GIFT Team!

GIFT Team Training

Members from Year 5 and Year 6 were invited to attend GIFT training at St Bernard's High School at Rotherham today. Children from other primary schools in our Trust gathered together to learn about their roles in the GIFT team. They began with fun team building activities so that they could get to no each other. They made rosary beads and vestures, they took part in prayer stations where they learnt how to write prayers, singing, and Father John came to bless all of their new rosary beads.
