Leavers Mass Friday 21st July 2023

Father Henry held a lovely mass this morning for our Year 6 leavers. We are so proud of them all and we wish them every success as they begin their new chapter at secondary school.

Advent Mass 28th November 2022

This morning, we celebrated mass to mark the start of Advent. Thank you to everyone who has joined us today wearing a purple item to mark the start of Advent.

Father John Ryan joined us for mass and has stayed in school today working in classes with the children.

During mass, the children explored the meaning of Advent. The children were also joined by Katie and Kevin Carrot! The children heard the Christmas Carrot story during the Homily. The message from today's mass is that it is much better to give than to receive.

Virtual Mass at St. Marie's Cathedral 13th May 2021

Nursery

Today the children watched and joined in on the live stream from St Marie's Cathedral Sheffield. They participated with the singing and the actions.

Reception

This week in Reception the children experienced their first Mass this year. It was a very special time and the children had lots of questions about what they could see in the Church. The children enjoyed joining in with the prayers and the hymns that were sung.

Year 1

Year one enjoyed taking part in the virtual mass. Afterwards, we sat in a circle and had some reflection time where we lit a candle and said some prayers.

Year 2

Year 2 enjoyed our first Mass in over a year today. We joined in with the Virtual Mass from St Marie’s in Sheffield.
It was great to see the children remembering so many of the rites and responses from Mass. Great job Year 2

Year 3

Enjoying Pentecost Mass yesterday morning. It was lovely to see other children and celebrate together!

Year 4

Year 6

Ash Wednesday Mass 2020

St Joseph’s school community all gathered together to reflect on the first day of Lent. Through the homily, Father Evangelist encouraged the children to think about what the ashes resemble on their foreheads and what they are going to ‘give up’ or do during Lent. Father explained the importance of forgiveness and how to use this special time to be more like Jesus. The children listened and sang beautifully, thank you to everyone who came to join us.

Advent Mass - 20th December 2019

We gathered as a community in school this morning to celebrate Advent Mass. It was celebrated by Father Evangelist  with a few pupils leading us in the readings and bidding prayers. Thank you to all who could join us, it was a lovely way to end 2019.
