Class Chaplains

AUTUMN 2 2022

Nativity in a Shoebox competition.

We had so many amazing entries to our Nativity in a Shoebox competition – it was very difficult to pick a winner! In fact, it was so hard, CAFOD club chose 4 winners! We raised £29 for CAFOD with this competition and the children in CAFOD club then selected items from CAFOD’s world gifts to send to families around the world who are experiencing poverty.

CAFOD club chose to purchase Trees for Life (£8), Keep Clean Kit (£6) Happy Queen Bee (£4) and the Vegetable Garden (£5) and the Emergency Water (£5) gift.

Thank you so much for your support,

Mrs Courtney

Autumn 22

Well done to our KS2 class chaplains for their involvement in the St. Bernadette Relic Tour.

Autumn 22

This year, the class chaplains have formed the CAFOD club. The CAFOD club meet once a week, during lunch time, to plan ways to promote the Catholic life and mission of our school.

During the first week of term each class voted for their class chaplains. Children had to explain to their peers why they wanted to be in the CAFOD club and why they would make a good representative from their class. This also formed part of our democracy work as part of our British Values themed week.

To celebrate the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the children in CAFOD club learnt about his life this week and then wrote a prayer to St. Francis. This was then shared in a special liturgy the schools in the new St. Francis CMAT participated in. Well done, CAFOD club!

This week, the children made Rosary prayer beads in preparation for the prayer sessions they will lead during the month of October.

To mark October as the month of the Rosary, the children in the CAFOD club led prayer sessions during lunch time for children in Key Stage 1 and 2 to attend. The CAFOD club children explained how to use the rosary prayer beads and then led a decade of the rosary. All the children were respectful and enjoyed this quiet, reflective time in the middle of the day.
