Free School Meals
This morning, I have been informed that Doncaster Council will support schools to provide Free School Meal vouchers during the half term holiday despite the DFE declaring they will not fund these. If you are entitled to FSM, please look out for the Wonde vouchers which were used previous to the Edenred vouchers through an email or text message.
It is really important that school have the most up-to-date contact details so please inform us if they have changed.
As you may be aware, the DFE are making changes to the free school meal voucher scheme. These changes will be launched after the Easter holidays, therefore from the 20th April.
At the moment, schools have been instructed by Doncaster Council to provide free school meal vouchers themselves to children who are eligible for free school meals and children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 who we call universal free school meals. These are the vouchers which you should have received this week by either text message or email.
The DFE have informed us that they will only be providing free school meal vouchers to those children who are eligible for free school meals and not universal free school meals however this could change.
We are therefore asking all parents to consider if they are eligible for free school meals by following this link with the information which is also below:
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
If you believe you do meet this criteria and you are not already registered then you can apply through this website link:
Or alternatively you can phone on 01302 735336.
School will continue to provide free school meal vouchers for free school meals and universal free school meals for the following two weeks (wc 06.04.20 and wc 13.04.20) until the transfer over to the DFE scheme on the 20th April.
I would like to thank you for your ongoing support, co-operation and understanding during these challenging times. School is receiving updates from the DFE and Government as the public are and this is a very fluid situation which is changing rapidly. I want you to know that we are doing our absolute best to ensure the upmost care for our children which is at the heart of everything we do here at St Joseph's.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
