What we have been up to so far......

Mission 2 ‘Charlie Communication.’ Week commencing 07/03/22

Mission brief: One by one you will have to guide one another across the fast flowing river.

The children enjoyed our Commando Joe session in the hall guiding one another across the apparatus. During the session the children learnt that they are different ways to communicate other than verbally, and used non-verbal communication techniques such as body language.

Fair trade fortnight - Spring Term (2) 2022

The children have been learning about how chocolate is made from the cocoa beans in Sierra Leone and how the farmers get paid ‘fairly’. The children using role play to help them, understood that it was not fair to give someone else more money for making the chocolate than another person.
Later the children had some fair trade hot chocolate around the camp fire to help keep warm.

What we have been up to so far.......

EYFS Nativity performance - 10th December

All the children looked fantastic in their costumes and all sang beautifully for our Nativity performance. Thank you for enabling this to take place safely and for your support. We were very proud of them all.

Hour of Code -  Week commencing 6th December

The nursery children enjoyed participating in our ‘Hour of Code’. The children became coders for the session and played the game code monkey. Playing this they learnt the simple coding basics to move the monkey to open the treasure chest.

Christmas Pantomime - 1st December 2021

All the children loved watching the school pantomime, especially taking part in the singing and dancing.

Nativity Scene - December 2021

The Children had fun creating our class Nativity Scene combining our Christmas crafts and RE work.

 

Forest School - Autumn (2) Term

Hedgehogs- The children watched a video about hedgehogs, we spoke about what the hedgehogs look like. Some children said they had ‘Spikey bits’ on them and we talked about them being a nocturnal animal that comes out at night time. The children then went out into the playground to collect sticks, they were then given some clay to roll out to recreate their own hedgehogs.

 

Forest school - Autumn (2) Term

Bracelets- The children had fun looking in the foundation playground for different natural for their own bracelets. Once all the natural objects were found the children glued them on to the card to create different designs.

Children in Need - Autumn (2) Term 2021

Thank you to all of the children that dressed up in aid of Children In Need and entered the colouring competition. We appreciate all of the donations that were handed in and as a school we were able to raise a fantastic £231.78 for such a worthy cause.

Diwali baking - 12th November 2021

Bonfire baking - 5th November
 
The children each make their very own bonfire cupcake, using a chocolate flake to represent the wood. They then decorated it with yellow and red icing to represent the flames coming out of the bonfire.

Remembrance Day Crafts - Autumn (2) Term

Yoga Well-Being - Autumn (2) Term

All the children loved taking part in the cosmic yoga sessions this week. After a busy day learning and playing it was nice to have the time to relax, calming our bodies and minds with the yoga.

British Values- Democracy

In Nursery each child voted for the book that they wanted to have read at the end of the day. The children could only vote once using the different coloured paper as their voting slips. We counted the coloured paper to see which book won. Everyone was able to voice their opinion using the cards to show which book they liked the best.

Science experiment - Autumn Term (2)

Last week the children sat and watched what happened when mentos were dropped into different fizzy bottles. The children were told that once the mints were in this allowed all the bubbles to come out very fast. Resulting in an eruption! Everyone really enjoyed watching what happened.

Dia de los Muertos- Day of the Dead- Autumn Term (2)

On Tuesday 2nd November the children dressed up for ‘the day of the dead’ During our art input the children decorated skulls to place on our class window, then later listened to the story “ Funny bones”.
All the children went in the hall to show off their fantastic costumes.

Black History Month October 2021

The children listened to the story ‘ Handa’s Surprise.’ We spoke about how we are all different and unique, and that we all belong to God’s family. The children talked about their own differences, noting that some of us have curly hair whilst some of us have straight hair. We looked at where Handa lived, and spoke about the different houses and clothes that were in the story and how they were different to our own.

What we have been up to so far.......

Baking - Autumn  (1) Term
 
At the end of term the children enjoyed creating their own ‘ monster’ cakes. They used small cookies to create the mouth and mixed in the blue colouring to create the monsters face.

Meditation - Autumn (1) Term
During our well-being session the children listened to the story of the peaceful piggy.
Afterwards the children closed their eyes and listened to the calming waves, relaxing their bodies after a busy day in Nursery

Forest School - Autumn (1) Term
Week one Outdoor drawing
The children enjoyed the fine weather we had and went outside to draw their favourite activities they like to do outside.

Roald Dahl Day - Autumn (1) Term

All the children had fun during our Roald Dahl day taking part in different activities and showing the rest of the school their costumes in the parade in the hall.
