THE FRIENDS OF ST JOSEPH'S

Please see the letter below...

Dear Parents, The Friends of St Josephs are a team of volunteers who raise funds to help the school in many ways. With school budgets getting tighter, the work of the Friends association is more vital than ever to ensure our children have the very best opportunities and equipment. Over the past year, the Friends have organised and ran a number of events and activities. Some happen daily - ks2 tuck shop, others weekly - pocket money stall, and others throughout the year. The Friends group is currently only 3 people and the group can not continue to support the school without further members. We are looking for parents and members of our school community to help us out. Volunteers and charity events which raise money really do make a difference to our school budget and your children's lives. Can you help out and become a member of the Friends of St Joseph's? We are looking for any form of help and support. There are so many different roles to do from something as big as leading and planning an activity from start to finish to volunteers who can help out from time to time with shopping or helping on a stall at an event. There is no set time commitment, and the responsibilities and time commitment you give can be as little or large as you would like. Anything is appreciated, and everything counts. This year, the Friends have made a wonderful £2088. The Friends have purchased Nursery and Reception children's Christmas present from Santa on party day, new pump for the school pond in the quad area, Christmas Panto paid for all children, Dance session for each class on World Book Day with a professional Dance company, E- Safety day for Pupils, Parents and Staff, Refreshments for our Race for Life Sponsored Walk, new resources for displays and circular tree seating and outdoor bins for the playground. These things would not be available for the children without the work of the Friends. Next year, we are looking to: Plan a race night Hold discos and film nights Continue and develop the pocket money stall Continue to hold raffles, cake sales and competitions. Host new events for our children and families using ideas shared by our new members. Just a few people have worked so hard and achieved so much, but we need your help to keep the Friend's going! Imagine what we could do with a bigger team! If you feel you could give any time at all, please send an email to friends@st-josephs.doncaster.sch.uk. Please let us know what time of day would be best for you to meet to have a chat with the friends and share ideas for next year. We will confirm a date and time for the meeting based on the best time for everyone to attend. We look forward to hearing from you!
